DYC Racing Crew Sign-Up List

Please submit the following information to be added to the crew list. For availability this could be somthing like "I can only commit to a couple races" or "most of the summer". We need weight becuase J/24, J/22 and Stars require a total crew weight for major regattas. Helmsmen really pay attention to this.

Spent the last 4 years racing yatchs out of the Ala Wai Harbor on Oahu. I spent most weekends sailing in off shore races. Mostly sailed on a Santana 22 and on J24's. My position on both crews was grinder. I am very comfortable flying a jib and spinnaker. I also have some knowlege of the foredeck but not a lot of experience on the main. I am looking to learn more and bump up my racing game. I hear Lake Dillon is a challenging training ground and I would love the experience.

Sailed Dillon Open in 2009 (Ensign). Before that, a few years ago I was part of the regular racing crew on a J105 out of Milwaukee Yacht Club. I have also both skippered and crewed for many years on various sizes of cruising yacht, mainly in the English Channel and around the Greek Islands. I have some experience in a number of racing roles including helm, mainsheet, trim/sheets, spinnaker (a bit rusty), race tactics/advice etc. I have worked foredeck, but not for a few years. I’m comfortable in pretty much any size of boat and in most positions. Very keen to race the Dillon Open again this year and perhaps a few other regattas as well.

Have Boat, Need Partner
S20 owner looking for crew/partner for Wednesday night racing on Chatfield reservoir. The Santana 20 is a great sport boat that runs a 3 man crew. Everyone is very active on this boat. My son and I have been competitive in the local fleets. As I have 2 boats, I need to find a partner/crew member to share operating expenses only. We work hard to sail fast, but have fun doing it. Please contact David at 303-638-7909

Motivation: I have always been interested in racing, and now have the time to commit. Simply put, I love sailing.
Brief Experience: Recreational sailing for 10+ years. Formal Sailing Educated in San Francisco bay, and have been sailing Dillon/Cherry Creek Reservoirs for 3+ years. No racing experience, but am eager to learn, and am in excellent physical condition to tackle the tough jobs. I take direction well, with no back talk, and pretty much always have a good attitude. I get along with 99% of personality types, and have good communication skills, which I think is very important on a racing boat. Although I do have a competitive nature, my main focus is to have fun.

Brief Experience: College sailing team skipper, Penguins and Flying Juniors. Crewed J24s at DYC in early 80's. Took North sail 2 day foredeck school at Chatfield. Honestly, I'm not competent to foredeck right away but it will come back. Everything else ok now. Big guy but not fat, pretty athletic, very strong. I move around very well on a boat. Depending on your threshold, I have few or no offensive habits.
