NOTICE OF SERIES

2023 Dillon Yacht Club Summer Regatta Series

 Lake Dillon, Colorado

You are cordially invited to participate in the 2023 Dillon Yacht Club (DYC) Summer Regatta Series, a      series of 6 Regattas. Dillon Yacht Club is the Organizing Authority (OA).

  1. RULES

  • This series will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2021- 2024.
  • The DYC sailing instructions may contain additional changes to the RRS.

  1. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

  • The Races are open to all Full, Emeritus, Life, Junior, and Honorary members of the Dillon Yacht Club (“DYC Members”).
  • DYC Members intending to compete in the Summer Regatta Series or an individual Regatta must fill out a registration form, pay applicable race fees, and sign a liability waiver for all participants before competing in their first race. Paying racing fees, signing liability release, and filling out registration form constitutes registration for Summer Regatta Series or individual Regatta.  No participant shall be scored in a regatta or the series until all three requirements have been met.
    • A social member can participate in one individual Regatta.
  • All boats competing must display the mainsail number identical to the number they registered with, or report to the RC a change in sail number PRIOR to the start of racing that day.
  • For all boats competing in the Summer Regatta Series or Individual Regatta, the helmsperson must be a DYC Member as described in paragraph 1
  • It is the owner’s responsibility to carry liability and casualty insurance to cover all potential and actual claims and losses and to provide proof on request of the DYC.

  1. CLASSES

  • Five or more one-design boats registered and paid for the entire Summer Regatta Series will constitute a Fleet for scoring purposes. To qualify for a one-design fleet, five boats must be registered by the second Regatta. Any registered boat must compete in at least one race of the series to be included in the fleet.
    • Projected Fleets: Etchells, Melges 24, J24, J22, PHRF-Sportboat, PHRF-Traditional
  • PHRF: depending on the number of registrations, some one-design fleets may race with, and be scored with a PHRF fleet in addition to their one-design fleet. In this case, participants will be scored in both their one-design fleet and a PHRF fleet. For example, if J22s do not have enough boats for a one design fleet and J24s qualify as a one-design fleet, J22 and J24 will race together as PHRF fleet and J24 will be scored for both one-design fleet and PHRF.
  • The Sport Boat class shall include any asymmetrical spinnaker boat.
  • There may be PHRF spinnaker and non-spinnaker fleets based on registrations (PHRF-C).
  • If a boat does not have a SAIL PHRF rating certificate, the OA will assign a rating to that boat.
